The advancement of carrier materials directly affects the efficiency and reliability of the electronic packaging industry. In the early days, ordinary plastics such as polyethylene were often used as carriers, but due to their poor anti-static performance and insufficient temperature resistance, they were gradually replaced by high-performance materials. The current mainstream carrier materials include polycarbonate , polyethylene terephthalate , and polyimide , which have the characteristics of high strength, high temperature resistance, and low shrinkage, and can adapt to the high-temperature welding environment of SMT production lines.
 
Among them, PET carrier tape has become the preferred choice for small and medium-sized components due to its moderate cost and good transparency; PI carrier tape, on the other hand, is widely used in high-end fields such as automotive electronics and aerospace due to its excellent high temperature resistance. In addition, the integration of anti-static technology is another major innovation - by adding conductive materials such as carbon nanotubes and metal oxides, the surface resistance of the carrier can be controlled within the range of 10 ⁶~10 ⁹ Ω, effectively preventing electrostatic breakdown of the components.
